Announcing Contributor Coins

Contributor Coins

Our contributors mean everything to us. Without them, we would not exist. When someone gives a presentation, it is the culmination of hours and sometimes even weeks of work. When someone serves as an Officer, they are making a year-long commitment to give of their personal time, all for the benefit of others.

As a small, not-for-profit, we cannot pay these professionals what they’re really worth. So, we wanted to come up with something a bit more personal–something that is exclusive and shows our appreciation in a more direct way.

Our Membership Coordinator had a great idea: how about a challenge coin, or, as we like to call it, a contributor coin?

These coins have been specially designed to recognize those who give back. Complete with a display stand, they are perfect for your desk or trophy shelf.

How can you get one for yourself? We will award one to anyone who meets the following qualifications:

  • Any non-sponsored presentation at a Chapter meeting.
  • Successful completion of any Board or Committee service.
  • Four or more hours in a volunteer capacity; for example, as a booth volunteer at a local conference.

Finally, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Secutor Consulting* for stepping forward and offering to pay for the initial coin run. This donation ultimately goes directly to contributors and it is greatly appreciated!

* In the interest of full disclosure, Kelly Hammons of Secutor currently serves as our Vice President. He has not been offered, nor will he receive any special consideration in exchange for the donation.

Thanks for stopping by, Betty. We already have had one speaker say that she loves challenge coins and is looking forward to receiving it.

Its been a few more months, what is the response to the coins now? Do you give them to members as well? If yes, what is the criteria?

Hi, Betty. I’m happy to say that the response has been very positive. People really seem to like them.

Our basic criterion is that if you contribute the equivalent to a 45-minute presentation, you receive a coin. This could also mean board or committee service or another activity such as hosting a Ctf. We exclude vendors from consideration.

          I hope this helps!
