From all of us at ISSA Fort Worth (aka Cowtown) chapter, Happy New Year! As we reflect on 2019, we can all feel pride about our accomplishments in the past year.
First and foremost, I would like to note that our success would not have been possible without the dedication of our international committee members, as well as strong leadership and hard work of our small, but mighty local board officers. I would also like to thank several people who have guided our local chapter to help optimize the chapter meeting experience, event table recruitment, sponsorship program, & networking socials namely Lee Carsten (Alamo Chapter), Chris Armstrong (North Texas Chapter), Eric Lankford, Kevin Hickey, and Steve Horstman. As this is my first term as President, I would also like to thank Past-President, Michael Starks, for propelling this organization forward.
As an illustration of this past year success, the ISSA Fort Worth chapter was able to accomplish several of its planned goals:
- Establish a consistent meeting location
- Dynamic speakers for monthly chapter meetings
- Participate in a local community service event
- Establish a chapter sponsorship partner program
- Increased member (& visitor) participation in chapter events
- Partnership with local college &/or university
So as the calendar page turns to a new year, let me say thank you. Thank you for your continued dedication, loyalty and support. It is a great honor for me to be leading the ISSA Fort Worth chapter and I look forward to a very successful year ahead with continued efforts to adhere to the mission of ISSA by promoting cyber security knowledge sharing, training, education, collaboration amongst newcomers to the field as well as veterans in the different infosecurity domains. Let us all march into 2020 with pride of what we have accomplished and the drive to make the next year even more amazing as we strive to be a local chapter that benefits you the member as well as to serve as a respected and trusted source and advisor on information security to the local community.
With very best wishes,
J. Derek Boyd
President, ISSA Fort Worth Chapter
